"Primarily, I work in 3-D format on canvas and in more recent years these works have come off the wall and have evolved into free-standing life-sized sculptures I choose to call 'Beings'. The medium I use mainly consists of papier-mache, cheesecloth, fish net and various found objects such as computer monitors, old discarded musical instruments, televisions and old broken telephones. Usually the works are void of any color. I believe that by not committing to any color, it brings more meaning to the piece. We've always allowed colors to separate. That is something that I'm trying to change. I believe in equality, spirituality and peace. Lately I have become very much involved and attached to the avian world and most of my more recent works contain themes about birds. I am learning alot more about them everyday and feel that they are here to show us the way to a better life." Roberta "Bird" Fabiano, December, 2004 |
