After she read The Wild Parrots of Telegraph Hill, musician and Long Island Parrot Society member, Roberta Fabiano was inspired to write a song about the flock of feral conures Mark Bittner befriended in San Francisco. Dogen, Connor and Tupelo debuted on CD at the LIPS fund-raiser associated with the movie, and it's already #1 among parrot parents! "I keep playing it over and over." "I cry every time I hear it." "I can't get it out of my head," are typical comments from listeners, including Mark Bittner himself.

Bittner, also a musician, joined Roberta Fabiano and Pete Antell on guitar and vocals in the premiere live performance of the song at the April 20 L.I. Parrot Society meeting.

Profits from the CD, which is already generating award buzz among music industry insiders, are earmarked for the future Long Island Parrot Museum, Shelter and Learning Center.

Breaking News! Dogen, Connor and Tupelo will be added as an 'extra' to the DVD of the movie! Watch for it in early 2006!

Mark Bittner and Roberta Fabiano were guests on Channel 12's The Family Pet on April 23 and 24. Watch for them both on a future episode of LIPS' own Cablevision (Long Island & Rockland County, NY) TV program, The Bird Club

Mark Bittner is 'on tour' promoting the Wild Parrots movie and book and is working on a second book about his life. Roberta Fabiano is the lead vocalist and guitarist with the legendary Peter Duchin Orchestra, and writes songs and spends time with her parrot between gigs.
